Rating: - DO NOT BUY TOSHIBA!!
Since I bought this computer, I have had NOTHING but problems!! They have been out to replace the fans & mother board at least 9 times. It gets so hot it randomly shuts down. Apparetly there a flaw in the design and they are very much aware of the overheating problem. I was told buy a Toshiba manager there is a lawsuit going on with this model as I have begged & begged for Toshiba to exchange this very poorly made laptop but they refuse to do anything. I had it less than 2 months when the problems started!! I will NEVER buy another Toshiba product of any kind.
Rating: - The Fans Just Blew Me Away
I bought this laptop in 2002. It worked very smoothly and efficently. One of the problems that I had was with the fans running too hot. I know that it's a high graphic notebook and needs to stay cool, but how often the fans would run hard was ridiculous. Also, after about three years, the adapter for the power cord in the computer wore out. If I held the power cord to it at a certain angle it would charge, but that was too much of a hassle. Best Buy wanted a non-refundable base charge of $250 for it to be sent out to be looked at, and it could have cost me even more.
Overall it was a good computer to me, but if you're looking for something to last for a long time, I don't reccommend it. Also, if you want something to travel with, I do not reccommend it either. Even on the lowest power setting, at most the battery only lasts for about 45 minutes to an hour. I believe it to be from the high useage of the fans and the graphics.
Rating: - Stay away from Toshiba laptop
I am not a man complaining what I purchased, except that this Toshiba laptop is my very first one! As the other guy said "It cost me $2000 and hardening of arteries".
So stay FAR AWAY from Toshiba!!
I really do not have interest to list all the problem with Toshiba laptop. If you want a working laptop, get the others !
Rating: - Avoid Avoid Avoid
The sound drivers come and go, you never know when. The overheating problem on this model is unforgivable. I have to raise the stupid thing with blocks so that the fans can breathe or it shuts down in 20 minutes. Toshiba should be ashamed of this model but after hearing from other unfortunate owners of this crappy machine the word from the company is "Overheating? What overheating?" They owe me a new machine, preferably from some other company.
Rating: - Two Main problems
There are two main problems with this computer. It took me sending it off twice and a personal computer guy coming to my house four times to figure it out.
First off it has a static problem that stems from the speakers, USB ports, and power jack. It does some sort of electrical kick back thing that freezes the whole computer. The depot people fixed that one but I had to research it and tell them to do so for them to figure that one out, and on top of that I do not think they grounded all the problems.
The second time I sent it off (this time to a private company in New York) they grounded the rest of problem areas, replaced the mother board, and repaired my CD burner that never worked in the first place. I thought they fixed the problem for good but the computer started again with increasing frequency to freeze up.
One day the music started to garble and the whole computer shut down and would not restart properly. After calling my in home computer guy we accidentally figured out the Atheros wireless card that was causing the whole problem.
After removing it the computer has worked absolutely perfect without a glitch and it has been work so for over three weeks.
I hope the people at Toshiba are reading this because I was so frustrated I was about to throw my computer out the window buy a non Toshiba and bad mouth them forever.
The truth is after taking this baby out (Atheros Wireless Card) the computer is really nice. Its fast, has an extra large screen, & has quite a bit of memory, etc. Toshiba, please fix the glitches so that people will not have to waste lots of their precious time trying to fix the computers for themselves.
