Works just as well as the 512 MB Micro (see my review) at about the same price and is only slightly longer than the Micro. This could actually be an advantage as it is perhaps a little easier to handle and a little less likely to get lost.
Can be worn on a neck strap just like the Micros.
Rating: - Advantages of Cruzer drives
Cruzers come with a security feature that allows you to encrypt files saved on the drive. Since these little devices are easy to lose, you need to consider what happens if the drive falls into the wrong hands. I encrypt files I care about (files from work, personal financial info, etc.) and have peace of mind. The feature is easy to use if you remember your password.
A USB drive needs to be thin like the Cruzer. I have a bulkier drive from another manufacturer that doesn't fit into some USB ports because the slot is too close to the computer casing. Also, bulkier drives can block adjacent USB slots that you want to use for a mouse, printer or other peripheral.
My Cruzer has been working flawlessly for a few years. I yank it out without using the "Remove hardware safely" procedure without any problems. Just make sure data transfer is completed.
TIP: I leave an unencrypted file on the drive called "What to do if you find this" with instructions on contacting me if a good samaritan finds my lost drive.
