Rating: - I love this keyboard and mouse set.
I have been using it for over a year now and I have not had any problem with it. I even use a KVM so I can use it on more then one computer at a time and that works just great. I really can not say much more then this is a great keyboard and mouse.
Rating: - Returned
Considering a cordless keyboard and mouse combo? Look further. In fact look at the Logitech website and spend some time surfing their User Discussion Boards. If you do so I think you will save yourself the time and frustration I spent on this very attractive but poorly executed set.
My initial out of the box experience was great. The keyboard was comfortable with some great touches, like the scroll wheel and volume knob, and the mouse is comfortable with some intended features that are tough to beat. That said, twenty minutes into using them everything went south. The mouse would lock up. Occasionally the keyboard would as well, other times not. There was no apparent rhyme or reason.
After a long weekend of changing every setting, uninstalling the software and installing fresh off the newest drivers, reading and following every trouble shooting guide and FAQ and User Board suggestion Logitech had to offer I finally surrendered and repackaged this stunning looking set and sent it back to Amazon.
Did I get a lemon? It is possible. Reading Logitech's User Boards has led me to believe that my experience may in fact be a pretty common occurrence based on the number of similar concerns voiced by other customers.
If you are in the Market for a corded mouse consider Logitech's MX510. If you are looking for a wireless keyboard/mouse combo or a cordless mouse, however, I strongly encourage you to keep shopping.
Rating: - Awesome, easy to use, and no bugs
About a year ago, I purchased a wireless keyboard and mouse combination by MicroInnovations. The keyboard ceased to work after about a week of use, and the mouse was bulky and problematic.
I got fed up so I bought the Logitech Cordless MX Duo at Cirtuit City, and it is the best purchase I have ever made. The kayboard is comfortable and has all sorts of neat, useful, customizeable buttons. The mouse fits the contour of a hand, and also features a few useful convenient buttons. It is a very precise optical mouse that does not require you to move the mouse for a second to 'wake it up' unlike my last wireless mouse. The best part, I think, is the mouse charger, because now I am not constatly replacing the batteries.
And they look great.
Rating: - Much better than expected!!
After I drowned my last mouse (they don't swim), I finally had an excuse to get the cordless optical mouse I had been eyeing for a while. This cordless mouse/keyboard duo doesn't disappoint.
This is a great set all around, but I thought I'd address some concerns or trouble points I've read in other reviews:
Mouse Accuracy: Some people have complained about the mouse jumping around the screen, moving in the wrong direction or being unresponsive. The key here is to make sure to use the risht surface for your mouse and its optical eye. I had some similar problems until I found the right surface for the mouse. I'm using a pad with a dark, slightly coarse surface, and the mouse works flawlessly, much better in fact than my old corded trackball mouse.
Mouse Battery Life: Fully charged, the batteries last through 2 days of heavy gaming. With the rechargeable base, leave it to recharge at night and you'll never have a problem. Should the charge happen to run low, a quick 10 minute charge in the base will get you going again. If you can't get through a full day on a charge, try new batteries or exchange the charger base, because something's wrong.
Media key Compatibility: make sure you download the lastest software updates from the Logitech website. Yhe media keys work on all my programs, including itunes, windows media, and sonic cineplayer. Even a lesser known program, like Quintessential Player works fine.
No Caps lock or Scroll lock lights on keyboard: I would assume this is obvious, as having lights on the keyboard would drain the keyboard batteries unnecessarily. The Num lock and Cap lock lights are on the charger base.
Radio Interference: I have my charger about 10 inches away from my cpu, 1 foot away from my monitor and 2 feet away from my 2.4 Gigahertz cordless phone. No problems at all. I have also had no problems with channel interference between the mouse and keyboard.
On-screen display interferes with games: I haven't experienced this problem myself, but there is an option to turn the on-screen display off. I would think this would solve the problem.
All in all, this is a great, feature packed duo. More programmable buttons on the keyboard than you will probably use, with a great feel to the keys as well. The 8 button mouse may seem a little confusing or "busy" at first, but in no time you'll be wondering how you lived without them.
Two minor gripes: The volume dial has a short delay before it kicks in. This can be annoying if you're not paying attention as your music may be playing a lot louder than expected if you're not careful. Also, no manual at all. It's features are easy enough to discover on your own, but at quick reference guide at the very least, would have been nice.
Rating: - Great keyboard but mouse jerks
This is my first wireless keyboard and mice so cannot compare it. I'll just list the pros and cons of the system. But before that I want to highlight the JERKING problem with the mice. When you are moving the mice, slowly or quickly, the mice seems to jerk or trying to go to a particular part of screen. It really gets on your nerves after a while. I tried re-starting the iTouch configuration, re-connecting using a different channel to the base station, but I could not get it to stop the jerking motion. In the mouse motion config, there is an option to select for 'Smart movement' where it will jump to links in the page etc., but it seems even without that option, the mouse tries to jerk around!!!. Other than that, this system is great for the price.
Pros 1. Great Looks 2. Decently priced. 3. Lot of features on the keyboard and great flexibility of setting F-keys functions. 4. Lot of controls on mouse.
Cons 1. Mouse Jerks! 2. Mouse really heavy with the batteries
3. F-lock option does not have an option to select close window (Alt+F4) to be assigned to a key.
