Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Awesome product
I have been using my new MX Duo for about a week now and I am truly impressed with the quality and reliability of this setup. My laptop's screen broke, and instead of having it fixed I decided to create a makeshift desktop. I was looking for a keyboard/mouse duo that support USB connections since I didn't have a keyboard/mouse connector on my computer. After shopping around, and looking at a few Microsoft and Logitech products, I found the Logitech Duo to be one of the best deals for the money and reputation. I can't say it has dissapointed me.

The setup was a breeze. This was a truly plug and play experience for me. I am using Windows XP. As soon as I connected the base to the USB port, the keyboard started working. There was no need to install software or configure anything. It worked right out of the box. Of course, later on I installed the software and played with the configurations to customize the different keys to my liking. The mouse was a little different because it needed to be charged. At first, I could not figure out where I was supposed to plug the AC adapter. I finally figured out that the USB connector had an extra "plug" where the AC adapter could be connected. This was a little bit of a nuissance. I suppose most people will see this connector when they're plugging in the base to their USB port but I happened to miss it and thus spent 10 minutes looking for the AC adapter connection.

Using the keyboard and mouse has been a true improvement over any other keyboards/mouses I have used before. The keyboard's look and feel is amazing. Tapping on the keys is very comfortable and I don't notice any difference in performance or comfort. I have brought the keyboard about 6-7 ft from the base and it still works with no problems whatsoever. The extra keys on the keyboard are very useful but I have to say I am one of those people who is accustomed to his own shortcuts so I find myself using only the volume key and on ocassion the "GO" key to open my browser. For my own preference, the special keys are too much out of the way for me to bother to use them. I would rather use the mouse.

Finally onto the mouse, which I think is the biggest strenght of the bundle. I know some people have found the mouse too heavy but it's not like you're carrying around with you. To me it's just perfect in size and design. The wheel works perfectly and the "back and forward" buttons to the side are very very useful. The "quick switch" button located right under the wheel is also very helpful when you find yourself going between applications and don't want to key pushing CTRL + TAB. The mouse's response is very good - even better than the Microsoft optical mouse I had before, and I seem to experience no drops in performance or reliability even when moving the mouse 5-6 ft away from the base.

Overall, I am thrilled with this package. My only complaint is that the mouse seems to discharge rather quickly (I mean 3-4 days of average-to-high use) but you can always leave it charging at night so it's not that big of a deal. For this price and this amount of performance, Logitech really has a great product with the Cordless MX duo.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - you dont need no stinking wires
I have used this keyboard and mouse for a month now. Very nice.
I have not ran into any issues with its range, though I have not used it more than about 8 feet away from the receiver. I really like the weight of the mouse. With the 2 AA batteries it has a comfortable mass to it. Others have mentioned the issue of not having a light on the keyboard for num lock, function key lock, etc., those being on the receiving unit. I assume this was done since that kind of light would really pull juice from the keyboard batteries. I have had other wireless keyboards and they also have not had lights on the keyboard.
Once nuisance item for me is that the function key lock does not default to on, so you have to be aware of that when doing things like getting into the PC bios. I would recommend this combo to any of my friends.

they are on the base

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great Keyobard/Mouse
This is a great keyboard/mouse combo, you won't have any problems with it. It's really easy to install and get up & running. There are no issues with its performance, and you won't be able to tell the difference between this and a corded combo. If anything, the performance is better from the Logitech Duo. I highly recommend! You can easily find a lower price than Amazon, but this product is definitely worth the money.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Works like the best keyboards out there but without wires
My Optical Intellimouse suddenly dies one day. I think it was the cable because fiddling around with the cord would intermittently make it work. But I digress.

I have been eyeing the Logitech Cordless MX mouse ever since it came out. But I always thought it was too expensive. But since they paired it up with the their Wireless Elite keyboard I was sold (Maybe my mouse dying was a sign). I have been thrilled with this product since purchasing it about 4 months ago. The MX mouse works like a dream. It feels heavier than my old mouse, but you get used to that real quick. It's also just as smooth and accurate as my corded optical mouse. And I love not having to deal with the cord. The keyboard has a real solid quality feel. The zero-degree tilt took a bit of getting used to, but that also didn't take long. I love the one-touch and media controls. In effect I can use my keyboard as a remote control for my TV tuner card.

In terms of range and battery life, two very big issues with wireless keyboards, I've used my keyboard and mouse while sitting across the room on my sofa in my office. No problems whatsoever at a distance of about 10 feet. I'd say my computer is used about 2-4 hours a day. I have never had to change any batteries either since I bought it. The keyboard comes with alkaline batteries and the mouse is rechargeable in its base. Plus it works fine with my Cybex KVM switch.

Dislikes? Maybe minor gripes really. But the volume knob on the keyboard isn't as linear as I'd like in terms of controlling the actual volume. I still find myself using the volume knob on my speakers from time to time. Also I would have liked better control of setting the one-touch keys. Not all of the one-touch keys can be set and some I can't really get to do anything. But I don't really use these keys much anyway so no big deal. Finally I would have liked to have a caps lock LED on the keyboard where you'd expect. The caps lock LED is actually on the mouse cradle. Again all minor gripes for what is absolutely a first rate product.
