Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - M-Audio Audiophile 2496
I purchased the M-Audio sound card via Amazon a month or so ago. I'm in New Zealand and the transaction was seamless and delivery was prompt with excellent tracking facilities.
The M-Audio is a great sound card which I'm using in conjunction with Nuendo and Reason. This card seems to be compatable with these programms, my Dell dimension E520 and Windows XP. The M-Audio control is straight forward. The fun starts now !

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Vista Drivers Now Available
Several older reviews of this card report that there are no drivers for Windows Vista. That is no longer true. M-Audio has just released a 32 bit Vista driver on their website. I downloaded and installed it the other day and it works perfectly. After you install it, just remember to select the M-Audio card as your default playback device (you can do this from the Windows Control Panel) and reboot your machine.

As far as sound quality goes, this card just demolishes anything else I've used to connect my computer to my stereo. During the interval between installing Vista on my computer and M-Audio's release of the driver I experimented with connecting my iPod through my preamp. The sound was okay, but it was noticeably lacking in spaciousness and frequency range compared to this card. I tried the iPod all sorts of ways -- through the headphone port and through a docking station, and through a direct connection from the docking port to preamp. I even used lossless compression. The sound was still disappointing.

You can buy more expensive audiophile network devices that allow you to send music from your PC to your stereo (see the offerings from Logitech), but for the money I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with this card. And now that you can use it with Vista, there's no reason to be afraid of giving it a try.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great Hi-Fi card
I installed this card in my computer mainly to receive classical music radio streams from around the world. My computer is connected to my high end stereo system and the sound quality is excellent! Great sound card at a very affordable price.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great 2 Ch. Sound
I bought this to hook up to an Insignia 2 Ch. Receiver. My on-board audio card only has headphone jack's out. I don't need 3d Gaming sound, I don't need 7 speakers.

Very simple setup, let MS find the drivers and get going. Great sound as far as I can tell, decent price. I have not gotten into the recording options yet so I can't say yay or nay about them but for listening, great stuff.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Poor Sound Quality
I installed this card on my Vista box and was surprised the quality wasn't better than the integrated audio. As well, the signal strength was much weaker. I had the most recent drivers installed to no avail.

Cheers
