Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Great sound
These headphone have great sound at a good price. I've had them for abouth 12 months now and have run into any problems with them. They are VERY comfortable and look real sweeat. The coard is long a bit too long for my taste.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Studio Quality
Don't let Panasonic fool you with the "Basic" misnomer. These headphones are definitely one of the best studio pairs you can find. I have only used them for two weeks now, so I can't give you a good idea of their durability. Let me break this product down for you...

Sound-
The most important aspect of a pair of headphones is sound. For the price range, the 710's probably deliver the best. The frequency response is advertised as 5hz-27khz, however the package said it was 8hz instead. But, that's not much to gripe about. The clarity at high frequencies is unbelievable. After using them for two weeks, the bass has increased in power. But, it will not thump the bass unless the bass is meant to be thumped. So, if you want all of your bass to be thumped, you'd have to get an amplifier. You can't just turn the volume up on these things cause the bass will blow your eardrums out. Believe me, I had a serious headache after listening to some hardcore at a little higher volume than usual. One more thing, you won't get any unwanted distortion with the 710's.

Comfort-
The second most important aspect is comfort; you can't enjoy the sound if your head is getting squeezed to death. I found them to be quite comfortable. They need some breaking in at first, but eventually you should be able to forget they are on your head. I use them while mixing on my PC for 3-4 hour periods and feel fine.

Design-
Ok, I guess I've got to say a few things about the design. These can be folded up somewhat. Not enough to get excited about. However, they are not the sturdiest things in the world, so I wouldn't be stuffing them into a bag or other luggage anyway. If you have to take them somewhere, make sure they are well protected. They have little plastic swivels just above the drivers that adjust to your head for added comfort. These look fairly fragile and I can't help asking, "Why in the world didn't they use metal?" A note to DJs, they can be positioned for single side monitoring.

Looks-
I don't care about looks as long as they get the job done. However, there are those of you who just have to look cool. If you are thinking about getting these things for portable use, forget it. They are way too big. If you are going to use them as a DJ or in the studio, you couldn't do much better.

Efficiency-
In this price range, they have to be the most efficient of all. Don't wait; buy 'em!

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Not impressed.
I purchased these headphones in hopes of finding an adequate replacement for my Klipsch Pro Media 5.1 system during the midnight hours...I was off target with these headphones. The bass is weak, they distort at fairly low volumes in my opinion, and they produce a very inaccurate reproduction of every note I pushed through them.

Save your money and buy a higher-end pair of headphones.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - They fell apart after a year of great sound
After about a year of owning these, they broke. The earphones fell off the headband, and were dangling there by a tiny cord. Originally I gave these a rating of a 5, but I feel that it is necessary to change that rating to a 3 now that they have broken. I have purchased a new pair of headphones from JVC which look sturdier, but don't have quite as strong of bass. Again, these have incredible sound, but you do have to be very careful with them. I didn't do anything really rough or unusual with them, they just fell apart.
