Pros: The box is cool?
Cons: Was unable to get the cable input to detect my digital cable provider (TimeWarner) in analog or digital mode.
Summary: I had a Slingbox Classic that I loved. Simple, direct, easy, bulletproof. Plugged it in and it just worked. I was a big fan and recommended it to many others.

My husband is on the road a lot and there are several shows we record on the DVR for him to watch when he gets home, but sometimes two or three episodes pile up or get accidentally erased leaving him frustrated. Rating: - PROFOUND DISAPPOINTMENT!
Mine is the simplest of connections -- just a coaxial cable from the wall to the Slingbox. Sometimes it works within my home network, but I have no real use for that. Have now reset the device many, many times and reconfigured the modem and the Slingbox each time but, to date, no one, including two different tech support reps on live chat, has been able to make the unit work remotely. The last rep suggested that I return it. I cannot return it as it is no longer in "new" condition, so I am out $264. ... Read More

I originally bought the slingbox pro last year and have just tried the Hava Platinum HD, so here are my impressions. Setup for the Slingbox Pro-HD is easy. You download the software from their website, install it and it guides you through the process of finding the pro-hd on your network and setting up your devices. BTW - hookup was very easy and straight forward. I connected the slingbox hd to my cable, my router and the power cord. Went to my laptop and took it from there.

I already had an older version of the Slingbox Pro...So set up for this one was rather easy..not that it is difficult to begin with. When I did set up the other Slingbox pro in India..... PROs are the only ones that work with PAL and NTSC I did have a few problems , but Customer service is excellent and is world wide. They run u thru all the steps simplifying everything.
In USA the set up seemed to go very smooth for me. The set is complete without any need to buy any more cables.Like someone else ... Read More
