According to their very very wonderful tech support, which is based in the US by the way (a rare treat these days), the laptop that I had was too old to support it even though it supported the USB 2.0. While the product wasn't supported by my very old laptop, I fully endorse the company with my 5 starts due to their great, patient, and knowledgeable tech support that not only helped me troubleshoot but also gave me some great advice on some system settings.
