Rating:  - Compatible with iPhone 3G, if you get the universal dock adaptor
This speaker dock comes with a variety of dock adaptors. Unfortunately, you will have to provide your own adaptor to use it safely with the iPhone 3G. The universal dock adaptor is available from Apple (a package of 3 for $9.00).
I'm happy with the speaker itself. It has enough power to fill a small room. If you want to rock your whole house, you will probably be happier with a more powerful speaker.

I bought this product over two 1/2 months ago, and it was defected. I returned it to JBL for an exchange. I had to pay for return shipment plus insurance of their defective dock. It took them two months to ship me out a new product. I called and they would give me an eta, but then push it back every two weeks. So finally I receive my product in the mail and it was the WRONG PRODUCT. It was the on Stage III not IIIP(for IPhone). So I paid close to $200.00(including the tax and the return shipping) ... This was a great little speaker system until...
I recently updated my iPhone 1st generation to software version 2.1, and this speaker system is no longer compatible. When I plug it in, it now asks me if I want to go into Airplane Mode, and does not charge the phone.
Recommended, as long as you don't update your iPhone software to the latest version!

I've had previous versions of this product and find this one much improved.
- It does work with my iPhone 3G, including the charging.
- Improved sound quality.
- Battery powered (optional)
The only downgrade with respect to past versions is the remote control:
- Less intuitive buttons. Difficult to operate in the dark
- Dependent on Infrared, instead of the old RF. This means you need direct line of sight to the unit for it to work.

I've owned older versions of the JBL On Stage line and this one has been the best experience yet. The sound produced from this model is great and gets loud enough without distortion to use in any environment. When you first dock an iPod or iPhone with it and begin playing, it starts out on a low volume setting so you have to turn it up each time you dock it but it keeps you from being blasted out like the older models did.
