I bought this primarily for the price, quality of video and microphone, I used this for skype and yahoo messenger...
If you will just use it for home use I highly recommend this webcam. I have no regrets!
Rating: - This is a very well made and handy camera
I was first amazed by it's small size, but it is a workhorse. It works very well in low light conditions. The microphone is very sensitive and picks up voices quite well. The price is reasonable. One suggestion I would make is not to pay extra for a specific color on the unit (comes with either red, green, or blue). You really can't see it very well anyway. This is a nice little camera and downloaded the software without incident on my Window's Vista. It works great with Skype.

The quality of the Microsoft Lifecam VX-5000 is surprisingly good for the price. I bought it a couple of days ago to give some video calls to my parents in Europe (nothing fancy because they have a slow DSL connection). They were amazed by the clarity of the video (in 640x480). Moreover the camera works well in a low-light environment and the built-in microphone is good. Rating: - Good for the price.
Quality is not the best, but for the price it is good. I initially had a number of issues with the connection, but it seems to run well now. Overall, good for the occasional webcamer.
