Editorial Review:

Product DescriptionViewSonic's 22' VLED221wm widescreen LCD features a mercury-free LED backlight that requires less power than a standard 22' LCD but produces more brilliant color and crystal-clear images. 118% OptiColor NTSC Technology and Super-HD 1680x1050 resolution deliver precision color rendition, while the 16:10 widescreen panel allows users to work in two documents or applications side-by-side. Un?matched 12000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio (typ) further supports the VLED221wm's excellent front-of-screen performance with the black?est blacks and whitest whites. OptiSync digital and analog inputs and integrated speakers expand this display's multimedia versatility. Gamers, financial professionals, graphic designers and home office users will love the performance and style of the VLED221wm.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - On/Off button is bad
I've used 2 of these monitors for less than a year and was pretty happy with them, but I use them only for work. I knew the on/off button was a cheap little thing when I first turned it on (lights up blue when on). Now after less tham a year (about 9 months), it pushed in so far you can't use it anymore. This monitor produces the most beautiful color I've ever seen! I love the deep reds. There is also no edge bleed, and I view it in total darkness most of the time.

I agree with the above reviewer, you should turn off the dynamic contrast. It does more harm than good.

There is one more setting you may want to try. DVDs looked terrible at first. The colors were extremely exaggerated, the whites were blown out, and the highlights were pixilated. I tried all the adjustments ... Read More

LCD monitors typically sport cold cathode fluorescent backlighting, which can be less than uniform, and because it's always on in the background, it can impair a screen's ability to produce a true black. With LEDs, the screen is backlit with a grid of lights that can be turned on and off as needed. Sure enough, the 1680x1050 VLED221wm was capable of a black that ... Read More
