When it works, this drive is great. Creates nice CDRs and DVD-Rs with custom labels. Very useful.

The problem is that the drive doesn't work for long. The one that was originally installed in my HP Media Center PC worked perfectly for a little over a year, then started burning DVDs that would "freeze up" about half-way through when played on other DVD players. Since it had just gone out of warrantee, I had to go out and buy a replacement.

A friend gave me a gift card for Fry's Electronics for Xmass with instructions to replace my old broken DVD burner, so seeing they had this model on sale the day after Xmass I went over to my local store and bought one. I came home and followed the simple five line instruction card, but my computer would not make it past the bios stage of the boot up. I'm very pleased with the performance and quality of this optical drive. I have an HP so it works seamlessly with the unit.

Positive Summation: Works every bit as great as the included optical drive.
