Disk defrag - optimizes the drive, then combines all the empty free space together into one contiguous block. This in turn improves the overall speed and performance of the drive
Directory repair, repartition on-the-fly, device/volume cloning, integrity testing, benchmarking, secure erase and several other tools to help maintain your hard drive
Your hard drive should be defragged every 2 months or so. If you are working with smaller files (Microsoft Office, emails) you should run defrag every 3 to 4 months
OS X only optimizes files under 20MB. It also only optimizes the files not the drive, so even though the smaller files are optimized there can be empty space in between the files themselves. Drive Genius 2 has the ability to optimize the drive, by putting all pieces of the file together
Able to repartition your hard drive 'on-the-fly' (no need to reformat the hard drive) allowing you to add, delete, hide or expand partitions live.
Product DescriptionIs your Mac running slower? You probably need to defrag your drive. Although OS X optimizes the files in the Mac, it doesn't optimize the drive itself. Drive Genius 2 has the ability to defrag, directory repair and repartition on-the-fly. This is the same product used by Apple at the Genius Bar to defrag your drive (Part of the ProCare program offered by Apple). This software makes hard drive maintenance tasks painless, fast and easy. So prevent disaster by using Drive Genius 2 to maintain your computer.

Rating: - Finally Great all in one Ulitily
After using other utilities programs for the Mac this
beats them hands down. It easy to use either installed or
boot from DVD. It clean up dupicate files and unneed file
and defrag HD easily and increases bootup speed. You can duplicate
your smaller drive to larger drive on the fly or
create image for backup. Check and repair sector problems with HD too.
Does alot with easy to use icon interface. Worth the money and more.

Drive Genius 2
Exactly what I needed! A simple, yet effective, software to manage hard disks (be it internal or external, FW or USB or SATA). The sale's pitch from the company is radically true. Please be sure to read the user's guide, as there are a number of different manipulations that you can do on a HD.
Totally satisfied (specially the re-partition and the defragment options).
Rating: - Drive Genius v2.1-Excellent Product / Excellent Service
I have found Drive Genius v2.1 to be an excellent and important addition to the software I use. I have found it ease to use and fast. It has done an excellent and fast job of defragmentation, scanning, repair to mention just a few of its available functions. It does require boot from a boot disk in order to do its stuff on the boot hard drive but that is normal for all of the software I have used in this category. When working with all of my external hard drives it works from my primary hard ... Read More
Rating: - It works as promised
I was pretty skeptical about using this software after reading the reviews. But I got it from a bundle deal and after the Mac Geniuses uses it so I gave it whirl. After running the part to that identifies files to remove I eliminated 3.5 gigs of space that I wasn't using. It worked great. A week later and I can't detect any problems it caused. I also ran the disc defrag. It also has worked well. I'd say its a great utility to have.
Rating: - Very Useful Product
Product arrived on time. Packaging is kinda weird -- it's one CD, but comes in a double width DVD case.
Works exactly as expected EXCEPT the disk "cloning" feature will only work if it's not the STARTUP disc being "cloned" -- that's a bit annoying, since freeware applications (such as SuperDuper!) WILL do this. Also, some of the utilities are twins of ones that the OS already provides.
Also, the product has been updated -- update is available from the ProSoft website ... Read More
