Editorial Review:

Product DescriptionMSI is proud to introduce the MSI NX8400GS series. The new graphic cards are based on the nVidia 8400GS GPU and are the lowest cost DirectX10 solutions at the moment and will be available with passive or active cooler. The MSI NX8400GS-TD256EH is a passive cooled, low profile graphic card that is ideal for multimedia purposes. With the PureVideo HD Technology it is possible to play HD-DVD and Blu-Ray in high quality and using less CPU and power. With this technology entry-level systems are able to play high definition videos. Other multimedia features are HDCP and HDMI support through DVI.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - I Got a Dead One...
I can not give this video card a better score than 1. Not only did the one I buy from Amazon not work (clicks of death), but the heatsink is also very large, which makes it difficult to undo the PCIe clip to take the card out of the computer - when you do decide you want to take it out. Thumbs down, MSI. Maybe their 8500s are better, but I'd instead go with another manufacturer like XFX, BFG or eVGA who I'm sure test their products a little more rigorously than MSI does. Amazon still rocks.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great value - and no fan noise!
This is one of the few PCIe video cards without a cooling fan. Instead, it sports a fairly large heatsink on both sides of the board that is just as effective. I blew up a different video card by overheating when I unplugged the fan, so apparently they are more than just a marketing ploy... Video performance is very satisfactory, and the difference between analog video and DVI alone is worth the price of this card.
