Rating: - Very nice and the price is great
I've read all the good and bad reviews on this product and a lot of folks where complaining about the set up. I guess I got lucky or something but set up both internally and via the internet was no problems. I normally a D-link fan but started having issues with my dlink network cameras so I decided to give linksys another shot. I really like this camera, I can log in from work to see what is going in and around my house. I have this camera peered up with my dlink 655 router and all works great!!!
Rating: - What good is this camera if the software is unusable?
I should have known better than to buy this camera considering the horrible experience I've had with LinkSys software for my wireless devices and my older version of this camera. The old camera worked adequately as a web-accessible camera but I wanted one that could record video too.
So, considering how far the price dropped on the WVC54GCA, I thought I'd give it a try. Big mistake. The software interface is atrocious. I mean bad, really bad. It looks like it was cobbled together from bits ... Read More

The Camera set up easy within my own network..... However it took some help to actually find my video over the internet. To find your Hostname and ip address go to (http://whatismyipaddress.com).(http://c-IPADDRESS.HOSTNAME..It looks really great once you find it over the internet. And you can log into this camera over the internet to make changes remotely to it. There is no need to use any of the paid modes to view it over the internet. Its just a matter of figuring out what the URL is for your own camera ... Read More
Rating: - This is a great camera - even on an all Mac System
I bought this having had a little experience setting up a Panasonic webcam. With that bit of knowledge, I was able to set this up in 10-15 minutes. I have use OS X and an Airport Extreme router. To set up this camera with a Mac - you will not be able to use the software disc that comes with the camera (unless you have Windows on you system - I have too much pride for that).
The basic setup is to plug in the camera to the router with the Cat 5 cable. Now the trick is to find out what ... Read More
Rating: - Fails after 3 days, then needs physical reset
I was really happy with this camera. It is a good size, nice design, easy to setup.
But, then after leaving it plugged into the network and unattended for a few days, it shut off. It does not like to be powered up for more than a couple of days, and the only way to reset it is to unplug the power, and plug it back in again.
I have tried wired and wireless connections, but no luck.
It's not worth your money unless you don't mind resetting it's power every day or so.
