Rating: - One of the worst devices I own, by one of the worst companies
Please stay away, inferior product and customer service. THIS DEVICE WILL CRASH AND JEOPARDIZE YOUR DATA. We lost a significant amount of data and were not able to recover it. The customer service is pretty much non existent. I am surprised this company even exists. We had three of this particular capacity, one was a hard crash, nothing was recovered; one has inconstant performance, we recovered about 50% of our data; the last one is ok for now, but lesson learned, we are migrating all data to custom ... Rating: - I love it, when it works
This is my first NAS, and I barley no what I am doing. I like everything about it accept it is SLOW. And my biggest complaint is that when ever I shut it down it starts back up with errors. I have it on RAID (the dublicate option) and it keeps getting out of snyc. I read the manual and not much help. I assume I am not doing something right, but it really has been a nightmare. I am sure its just me, but lets just say its not too user friendly. I sent it back to Buffalo, they fixed, sent me another one. ... Read More
Rating: - Horrid
This system is easy to use and set up, but the customer service is horrible and the product is not reliable: I have gone over three weeks with them not responding to repetitive e-mails concerning issues. I have also had to have it replaced twice since I purchased it, and almost lost data both times. I would not recommend this to anybody
Rating: - Works well, but has a few glitches
This drive is running connected to a Cisco 3750 switch (24 ports of 10/100/1000) and it is a business grade layer 3 switch. (It routes and switches packets). The ports are 802.3z compliant, which is the IEEE standard for 1000Tx copper gig. My drive is connected to a GigE port via a 3ft cat 6+ cable. It performs exceptionally well, and I have the drive broken in to several partitions in Raid 1 mode since my wife and two sons have laptops. They image their laptops to their own drive shares using an enterprise ... Read More
Rating: - Easy installation, but noisy
I'm happy with this purchase except for the noisy fans. The fans are on all the time, unlike my PCs that only come on occasionally. All my networking equipment, including this device is in my home office, so the noisiness is a big negative for me.
Everything else is what I would expect. Easy installation, fairly small size, and a ton of space.
I like the ability to use it as a print server. Not sure if that's the right terminology, but I was able to connect my printer to the USB port ... Read More
