Getting the thing installed and set up on my computer was a total pain. I made the mistake of installing the software before plugging in the device, and then it took three or four uninstalls/reinstalls, each of which required reboots, to get it working. The software that comes with the device is terrible. I chose to download Picasa and import my images from there. Once I had my machine set up to scan images, the scanner actually worked pretty well.
