I've spent 8 hours trying to get this thing to work on my new HP PC with Vista Media Center/Cable Card. Each step of setup in media center locks up for several minutes. At the end of the 1 hour (due to lockups at each step) setup process it still won't detect a digital signal. I know the cable is live because the digital cable box works on the same jack. This has been so frustrating. It has totally soured me on Windows Vista and ATI products. I'm packing it up, sending it back, and requesting a refund. ... Read More
Rating: - Good TV Tuner giving TIVO-like Capabilities to your PC
This digital tuner is external and requires a USB 2.0 port in order to operate. Plus you will need to contact your cable company if you wish to utilize its Digital Cable and High Def capabilities as it requires a cable card in order to be fully functional.
However, I have read that it is possible to use this without a cable card only you won't be able to receive anything beyond basic cable and over the air High Def channels.

I thought I researched enough before purchasing, but I was wrong. I read it will work for any Windows Vista with Media Center. I followed instructions step by step, but when I turned on my PC, it never even recognized there was a new hardware plugged in. I then tried to download its driver form ATI's website, but I got an "unauthorized download" message. My HP PC came with a TV Tuner. I decided not to try uninstalling my working tuner to avoid making a grater mess.

I got this tuner a few weeks ago when I bought a new computer.
It works great. You do need to rent the CableCard from your local cable provider to get your premium and High Def channels, but that is only $1.99 a month. The resolution is fabulous. There is no real set up necessary, just plug and play. With Vista media center, I am able to record my favorite shows with the same great resolution.
