Rating: - Great video card for the price
I upgraded a 6800 256Mb to this model, the 8600 GT 512Mb (DDR3) and definitely noticed an improvement in framerates, ability to use AA, etc.
I would highly recommend this over inferior solutions from ATI or other me-too video card vendors!
Rating: - Good Product
Excellent Product for the valued price. Good performance compared to my old Nvidia Geforce 6800. I can play with no problems Doom3 and Quake4 at High Quality with 4x and 1280*1024.
Rating: - Excellent value in a card...
As the other reviewer said, this is probably the best sub-$200 card out there. My need was to drive a Samsung 24" LCD at 1920x1200 with a DVI cable and this card worked with no problems. I use it with Fedora Linux and the nVidia drivers for X-Windows work flawlessly. I'm very happy with this card. I used to mess around with ASUS and ATI/Radeon but that's just history for me now.
Rating: - The best value in the $100-$200 price range!
As of this writing (October 2007) this 8600GT video card with 512MB of DDR3 video RAM is the best value among video cards in the $100 to $200 price range. For the same amount of money you can find "slighty" faster cards on the market with only 256MB of DDR3 video RAM ... or MUCH slower video cards that have 512MB of DDR2 RAM.
Bottom line, if you are shopping for the best video card you can find in the $100 to $200 price range then THIS is the card you need to buy.
