Rating: - Now Clear QAM with Vista Media Center
I have been stuck using GB-PVR (open source alternative to WinTV that is MUCH better yet still very buggy and not that intuitive) until I found out TV Pack 2008 for Vista Media Center. Now I can use the elegant interface of Vista Media Center to tune in to BOTH analog and clear QAM digital signal from my cable company (Comcast).
P.S. You need to make sure that your card is the correct hardware version (it has several revisions). I initially got an old batch from Amazon that didn't even ... Read More
Rating: - Works well out the box.
No problems with installation. Did not use cd for drivers. Used website drivers (but did not install wintv). Works well with MS Media Center in Vista 32-bit. Does not work with 3rd party programs like DScaler (due to mpeg2 output). No other particular complaints.
Rating: - Good hardware, worthless software
Good analog TV/video-in capture, but p_ss poor QAM support. Software (WinTV2000) crashes so often the only viable option is to use third party software. NO AUDIO on QAM at all. ZIP. Less than useful support from manufacturer; (persistently supplying 100% correct, but absolutely unhelpful advice.)
Rating: - Not Vista compatible
I made every effort I know to use this in my Vista Home Premium machine, but in vain. It did work with 3rd party software that I found unacceptable, as it would not control my satellite box.
Rating: - Works with Windows Media Encoder 9 Series
I have this card working great on Windows Media Encoder 9 Series 64-bit, running on Vista x64 with 8G RAM. Previously I tried the ATI TV Wonder 650 and that kept crashing with buggy drivers. In contrast, the Hauppage 1800 started working perfect from the beginning. No more ATI junky drivers for me; Hauppage has their stuff together. With this card I can encode live streams over the Internet, just like those live events on pro websites.
