Rating: - Not worth the money
I purchased this unit prior to HD market dissolving; have gotten new firmware from Toshiba; but problems still persist. Movies freeze up both HD and regular DVD. Some regular DVDs do not play at all. I would not recommend this product unless you do not mind the freeze ups.

Excellent machine. Good quality signal, and easy to set up. Very good, though not perfect instruction manual. Amazon affiliated dealer service and delivery were excellent!
Rating: - Quite the bargain.
For the price I paid for the HD-A30 (open box/refurbished), I'd say I got quite the bargain. The only criticism I have is that the item did not come in a box at all. It was enclosed it a static bag (or some sort of plastic bag that all electronics seem to be wrapped in once you open the box) and placed in a standard amazon box with airbags/bubblewrap. Rating: - Toshiba HD-A30 1080p HD DVD Player
I got this HD-DVD player right after Toshiba discontinued production when it lost the battle with Sony's Blu-ray. I like this player especially the ability of upconverting regular DVDs. The only thing negative is that it won't play MP3 CDs. Otherwise, I highly recommend it.
Rating: - great price for a good player
this is a very good player for HD and SD DVDs... I have had problems playing SD DVDs at 1080p/24 though, which might just be because this player lacks the horse power to do the up-conversion while forcing play at 24fps... I know the hd-a35 does do this well.. but it has a better video processor.. regardless at 1080p/60 everything works great, SD DVDs look great and so do HD DVDs... I switch over to 1080p/24 for HD DVDs and they are so silky smooth.. for $99 on a refurb, I can't complain at all. :)
