Editorial Review:

Product DescriptionDouble Layer DVD media features 8.5GB capacity and can store nearly twice as much data as standard recordable DVDs. TDK Double Layer DVD recording media makes it possible to record a full-length feature on a single disc without using compression that could degrade the video and sound quality. Store up to 12 hours of footage on a single disc, or up to three hours in high quality mode.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - No longer a reliable product
For almost a year, these TDK 8x DVD spindles were one of the best secret deals on the market: compared to the other reliable, but extremely expensive and much slower Verbatims and Sony DLs, these were a steal. For about half the cost, they burned faster and gave you the same quality, and at a dud ratio of about 1:9. I used to buy the spindles in sets of 2 because I went through so many.

But the others are right. After the manufacturer switched production outlets, the quality has practically ... Read More

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - These DVDs make great coasters, not much else
I bought a stack of 50 of these.

I have both a Pioneer Blu-Ray burning that supports DVD Dual layer writing and I have a Lite-On Dual Layer DVD burner. Both of these fail with is media but have worked with other dual layer disks.

Until something changes, I advise skipping on this purchase.

Worse for me - I bought them on sale and then let them sit for 2 months before I had a need to send files to a client. Now I have to go get replacements AND explain why my delivery ... Read More

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Disappointment
I've burned 5 so far, in 2 different burners. The burns went fine, the automatic verification reported no problems. However when played back, they start to stutter and stall quite badly right around the time of the layer-transition; exactly the same problem that I've had in the past with the cheap Memorex DL disks. The whole area of Double-Layer DVD blanks is a major minefield; I'm trying the pricey Sonys next.

Note that as of the time of this review, the photo shown of this product is incorrect; ... Read More

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Not Compatible with my LG DVD Burner
I tried these six times and every one was a coaster.

They played fine until it got near the layer switch. Then it started to freeze and pixelate.

I then purchased a spindle of Verbatim DVD+R DL 2.4 and each burn was perfect.

So these TDKs are definitely not compatible with my LG DVD Burner.
