If you don't want to use wi-fi or can't for any reason, this is a great alternative. As you long as you have an electrical outlet, you have an internet connection. The only limit is the length of your cable.

I have been generally pleased with D-link products, but this thing is a disaster! I struggled for weeks with these D-link Powerline devices. Clean? Fairly (not too many wires)
Easy to set up? Check.
Quick to set up? Check.
Ethernet over your power line? Not exactly... ok, not even close.
The materials indicate that this product is for streaming HD content across a network. What I found was that the throughput on this product, at least in my house, was less than an 802.11b wireless connection.
