Rating: - overheats - poor design
I purchased this item as an inexpensive way to add HDMI to a home theater PC. I was attracted by its low-power, low-heat feature that did not require a noisy fan. The card overheated and stopped functioning within 5 minutes of booting up the PC. It worked again after turning the PC off to let it cool down. Rating: - Diamond does have this 512MB model
A previous reviewer rated this low becasue of an incorrect spec. Ignore this persons comments as he is totally wrong. Diamond does ship a 512MB card as advertised here and the price sounds right. The 256MB equivalent card is $25 dollars less on this same web site.
It's unfortunate that products get slammed like this by people that assume they know what they are talking about but don't do their homework.
Rating: - Error in specifications?
I believe the memory spec. listed here for this item is in error. It should probably read 256 MB, not 512 MB. The ATI 2600 has 512, not this 2400 model. The 2400 does require that your system have a minimum of 512 MB memory though, so perhaps that's where the mix-up came from. What alerted me to this is the outrageously low price for a 512 MB High Def. graphics card of $79.99, when in fact the going price for ATI's 512 MB card (the 2600 model) is over a hundred.
