Product DescriptionThe Zoom/FaxModem 56K USB utilizes the capabilities of a computer's Universal Serial Bus for the fastest and most convenient modem hookup yet! Using the included USB cable, just plug the Zoom/FaxModem 56K USB into your PC or Macintosh USB port; you don't even have to shut down the computer. The new modem will then be installed automatically and you'll be ready for fast, reliable access to the Internet, and other dial-up modems. Configuration is automatic and without the potential conflicts of an RS-232 serial port or an internal modem. The Zoom/FaxModem 56K USB doesn't even need an external power supply. It gets its power from the USB port itself. The Model 2985CF is RoHS Lead free compliant.

Rating: - Modem for iMac
I recently bought an iMac to replace a broken PC. I run Windows Vista using Boot Camp. I have an application (Act) that dials the phone for you. I wanted to use the dialer in the modem. It works OK. My only complaint is that it seems to wake the computer from sleep in OS X. I wish Apple Address Book had a phone dialing function. All you need to do to make the modem to work in both Windows and OS X is to download the Windows software from the Zoom.com site.
Rating: - Good modem. Works like a charm!
The Mac Pro ships sans internal modem, so in order for the Mac Pro user to send faxes he must set up a separate, external unit for that purpose. The Zoom Model 2986C fills the bill.
