Editorial Review:

Product DescriptionThis El Gato EyeTV Hybrid Analog and Digital TV Tuner for Macintosh has been Factory-Refurbished to perform as new. It includes a 6 month warranty.

EyeTV Hybrid is a highly acclaimed TV tuner for the Mac. It's ideal for anyone who wants the flexibility of a free over-the-air HDTV and analog solution together in one small USB stick. EyeTV Hybrid does the work of two EyeTV hardware products for the price of one. It delivers stunning quality free-to-air digital HDTV (ATSC) to your Mac as well as conventional analog TV via standard cable or antenna.
EyeTV Hybrid records digital TV in one quality setting, Lossless. The digital stream is recorded unaltered for full quality digital content as encoded by the broadcaster. EyeTV also supports closed captioning and Dolby Digital sound. With its classic matte aluminum finish and surprisingly small size for such a versatile product, the EyeTV Hybrid is a perfect complement to the Mac. It features a USB 2.0 interface for the streaming of superior quality, uncompressed TV content to your Mac. EyeTV Hybrid is USB powered and therefore requires no external power supply, and contains a full-size coaxial plug. Input and Output - USB 2.0; Antenna input - Coaxial connector (IEC); S-Video (via break out cable, included); Composite video (via break out cable, included); Stereo audio (via break out cable, included); IR remote control sensor; Power Supply - USB bus power Includes Software and Installation instructions

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Beware!!!
Bought it to use on my macbook pro, didn't really use it that much. After 14 months I had an error that it was connected to USB 1 (which it obviously wasn't). Further investigation & emails to elgato reveal that the unit has failed & as it is more than 12 months old..... tough. I'd be very wary before spending money on this company's inferior products

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Amazingly Easy To Use!
This thing is awesome! After pluggin it in, and setting up an account on titantv (took about 10 min total) I was recording/watch live tv. The only downfall I've seen so far is that I'm on Comcast, and with the recent channel changes, without me knowing it, I recorded about 7 hours of baseball games instead of the cartoons and sci fi shows I intended. After running setup again, I was back in business. Many complain about how hot it gets, but seriously, how often are you going to touch it? I have ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - EyeTV Hybrid is Great
I love products that just work out of the box.
My activation key was blurry but I figured that out .
This is just a great product. I don't record programs but watching TV on my iMac with EyeTV is great. I like the menu setup and program lineup list. The picture looks very good.
Setup was 5 minutes.
Good job Elgato.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - El-Gato EyeTV Hybrid + iMac & PowerBook G4
At first I hesitated buying it - I thought it would be blurry at full screen and not pick up as many channels. But I was pleasantly surprised! I tried it out on my powerbook first with an old rabbit ear antenna that I found laying around the house. I have no room to install a professional outdoor antenna and I am on a budget so I figured I would try this first. It picked up over 38 channels! Once I got my iMac - same thing - 38 channels! The antenna stands on the floor at a 45 degree angle toward the ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Digital transition is referring to BROADCAST!!!!
Ok...to tell the truth I do not own this product, but I've studied it a lot. The ignorance of many reviewers is bugging me, in 2009 ALL BROADCAST (ANTENNA RECIEVED) channels will be dropped, not analog cable all-together, so this product will not be useless next year, it will be quite useful for the next 5yrs. or so.
