Rating: - How to fix clicking sounds from the paper tray
If you're getting loud clicking noises that seem to be coming from the left front by the paper tray, here's how to fix the problem:
- Take the paper tray out. Make sure the paper height is set to 11 inches -- it's probably set a little smaller, and the design lets the paper interfere with the gear that lifts the paper up for the feed roller to grab when it's not set right.
- Then lock the paper size - the lock is at the back of the tray. Brother ships it unlocked for some ... Read More
Rating: - prints good but not envelopes
Except for always creased envelops, printer is just fine. I own three of the same make/model printers and Brother has not yet answered my email regarding envelopes.
Rating: - Great printer
I purchased this printer as a factory reconditioned unit and it has worked flawlessly for me. It is quiet and i have none of the problems that others have mentioned in their reviews. I love how smooth and fast it works and the print quality is very good.

Rating: - Creased paper
I've owned Brother printers in the past. I bought this as an upgrade. Unfortunately it creases paper randomly and regularly. I can't use it for anything but personal printing (where I can overlook the creases) unless I print multiple pages and use the ones that aren't creased. Wastes a lot of ink and paper. If you're in the market for a printer, look elsewhere.
Rating: - Poor envelope feed
The printer works as well as one might expect for a desktop printer; fairly fast; copies are crisp-looking and clean. My mediocre rating is for its poor envelope-handling ability.
Envelopes come out heavily creased. The support document tells several things you can do to fix this. One (a software change) doesn't help at all. The other (a hardware adjustment -- flipping two levers located along the paper's path) does help the creasing, but the manual says quite clearly that you must flip these ... Read More
