Rating: - Very good - but with a caveat or two
First off, this is an excellent sound card with hardware acceleration. It helped not only the general sound, but also the stuttering in some games - plus boost my FPS by about 10-15%.
Now for the caveats - the driver disk is from 2004 (this is a previous gen card from Creative - even though sold as new retail). While for general surfing and music playback those old drivers are fine for XP, you may experience audio problems with newer games. Creative does not truly support these last ... Read More

I have had this sound card about a year now, and again I love my soundblasters. My previous card was the soundblaster MP3 card from 2000, and unfortunately the programs were out of date and would not update to windows xp, so I broke down and got a different soundcard. Rating: - amazing sound card
This is a much better sound card over the "SB Live! 24-bit". With EAX 4.0 and CMSS 2 along with the standard graphic equalizer and bass boost options your pc audio will sound loud, powerful and accurate. I hook my pc up to my stereo with a belkin cable splitter so this card plus my hi-fi stereo system equals some really good sounding mp3, cd and video games.
Rating: - Great Sound Card for Normal Homes
I recently upgraded my computer speaker system to 5.1 and needed to upgrade my sound card to be able to handle new system. This card worked like a magic.
1. The installation was a snap. I just opened my computer plugged the sound card into PCI slot, closed it, turned computer back on and then run the installation CD and I WAS DONE.

I have a deall 8400 and this card sounded great when I first installed it. Then for no particular reason it stopped working. Nothing. None of the troubleshooting pages at creative were of the least bit of help. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling everything. No results. Don't buy.
