Online ordered this PCI-card adaptor to add four USB2 ports to an old Dell Dimension c700 desktop running XP. Desktop only had original USB1x. Card dropped right in to a spare PCI slot, was found by XP, and worked right away. Remember, be sure the card is seated all the way into the slot, which can require the application of a grunting level of pressure until the pins seat. You'll feel it and see it when they go in all the way.

One issue that has plagued add-in USB cards for the Macintosh for years is problems with power saving. Either the computer will not sleep, will crash on waking or sleeping, or it will lose contact with the card and attached devices. This card, when used with Mac OS 10.5.2 specifically, seems to eliminate these problems. I ordered this to add USB2 to my Mac G4 MDD. As advertised, I opened the side door of the Mac, installed the card, turned on the Mac, and it worked perfectly from the very start. Now I can enjoy my new iPod which requires USB2 to synch. Good product at a good price.
