My biggest concerns when buying this were:
1) Does it work with Linux?
2) Does it really meet USB 2.0 spec?
Unfortunately, #2 is really hard to determine. After all, no one is going to advertise non-compliance. What started all of this was I have an old (3-years old is OLD?!!) Intel box that only has USB 1.0 on the motherboard. I am currently running Linux Fedora 9 2.6.26.6-79.fc9.i68. The previous 2.0 card (a cheapo) experienced a current overload and no longer functions ... Read More

My desktop computer is almost 5 years old and when I purchased an external drive to use for backup, I noticed that it took an extremely long time to complete the task for my desktop and laptop.
After some searching, I found the 6 port PCI USB card. The ad claimed that it would speed up processing. Well, I'm happy to say that it did and the installation was easy and getting it up and working was simple.
Full backups are now completed in a relatively short space of time. ... Read More

Simple to install and it has served it's purpose of giving an old computer USB 2.0 technology. Recommended for it's value.
Rating: - ULTRA, 6 Port USB 2.0 PCI Card
Perfect for an older computer with only a few 1.0 USB ports! With XP Pro, there was no manual installation during boot up...it was ready to use. Four of the ports are outside and two are inside. Four is more than I need; I have no idea how the two inside ports can be used?

Installed this in a Dell Vostro, Core2 Duo 2.3ghz, 3gb RAM, Windows XP Home.
The card was recognized with no problems but it works inconsistently.
My iPhone and my iPod drop connection frequently.
Neither my external Seagate 500gb drive nor my Sandisk card reader connects at USB 2.0 speed.
A microsoft optical mouse will not work at all.
The keyboard is fine, along with a cheap USB 802.11g adapter and a Canon MP470 printer.
