Without question the most frustrating software application I have ever had the mis-pleasure of having to work with. Slow - despite a top of the line duo-core processor and terrabytes of storage - doesn't begin to describe the time that is required to render a project. You can count on the render process to hang approximately 95% of the time and that's the least of the aggravations. Don't bother emailing Pinnacle if you have a problem with their software - you may as well expect a personal reply from the Queen - It just never happens. There are so many things wrong with this program. A lot of little annoying things and some very big frustrating events that there are no fixes for. Pinnacle's original creators should be ashamed of being associated with crap that looks like it was developed in China. Rating: - THE PAIN OF PINNACLE
Pinnacle systems video editing software (Studio and Studio plus)promises so much but delivers very little of it. Furthermore, the technical support they steer you to is almost non-existant.
With Studio, videos that I had edited and saved for later burning to dvd became impossible to access, making all the hours I put in a total waste. Studio and windows xp don't get along well resulting in frequent crashes and loss of data. E-mails to Pinnacle technical support got no answer. When I read about Studio ... Read More
Rating: - OK at video editing, awful for DVD burning
I was OK with Studio 8 for the first few months I had it, I made simple VCDs and DVDs of my friends, it was amusing.
Then I tried to make some more complicated things, with multi-level menus, and a number of different file types, and fill up the whole DVD. I ended up with about 5 coasters. The pinnacle tech support was no help at all.
Then I found TMPG DVD Author, used to make DVD files which are then burned from within the program or burned with Nero. TMPG has not produced any coasters ... Read More
Rating: - Look elsewhere for moving your videotape to DVD
This product and the bundled Pinnacle 8 Studio software delivered spotty performance. It generally ptured the video from tape OK, but the interface (and especially the capture format options) was very non-intuitive. The DVD renedering was slow, and results were hit and miss: some were OK, some failed outright and some were rendered with annoying frequent color shifts (about every 3 seconds throughout the entire DVD).
