This product is very versatile and I have used it to connect VCRs, Television; and a DVD player to my computer.
I highly recommend this product. The only trouble I had origionally getting the sound to work with the device but once I got both sound and picture to work together the product was very very good.
Rating: - A Total Waste of Time and Money
I purchased this because I wanted a USB device, not a card, and it was cheap. What a mistake! The USB Live comes with proprietary video capture software and won't work with any off the shelf video capture software. So you are locked into using the WinTV software that comes with it, which can create MPEG1 files only; it cannot create MPEG2 or AVI files, and the maximum video quality is 320x240. Rating: - Not great...
I bought this cable so that I could play video games on my computer using my monitor as a TV. I know it's possible, because my oldest brother has the exact same cable and did the same thing. After installing everything, it didn't work. I then uninstalled everything, reinstalled it, and now my computer won't recognize the cable at all. Either I didn't uninstall it "properly," or my cable went bad.
Rating: - Low resolution, low video quality, nice customer service
One thing that has has not been included in any technical description of this frame grabber is that, it supports a maximum resolution of 320x240 for video. I was not satisfied with the overall video quality either. However, I felt inclined to give a star for their good customer service and fast response time to my e-mails.

I'm using this to watch my Camcorder's subjects on my laptop. Gotta love the technology that's being made available these days. I can also review what's been recorded in playback mode. That allows the camera set up on the tripod not to be messed with (using the remote and the laptop,) and it gives a more accurate view and assessment of the recorded material than the small LCD screen on the camcorder.
